“I came to learn. And I will focus on rebounding.”
The WKBL Rising Star Team, centered on Park Ji-hyeon (Asan Woori Bank), Lee So-hee (Busan BNK Some), and Lee Hae-ran (Yongin Samsung Life Insurance), departed from Gimpo Airport on the morning of the 28th. After arriving at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, we met at the auxiliary gym of Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
The reason why 12 WKBL rising stars joined together in Japan. The Japanese women’s professional basketball league, W League, hosted the ‘W League All-Star 2022-2023 in Ariake’, and the WKBL rising stars consisted of 14 W-League All-Stars on the 29th. It’s because they play event games with the squad.
There are many크크크벳 players who represented or represent Japanese women’s basketball in the W League All-Star team. 14 players, including Lamu Tokashiki from the WNBA, Yuki Miyazawa and Himawari Akio, who won the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, were included in the W League All-Stars. A difficult opponent for the inexperienced WKBL rising star.
However, facing high-level Japanese players is a valuable opportunity for young players who do not have much experience. The same goes for Park Jin-young (178cm, F), a member of Hana 1Q in Bucheon.
Park Jin-young entered the pro as the second overall in the 2022-2023 WKBL Freshman Selection. She has the height of a forward, but has the ball handling of a guard. She can display a variety of abilities in multiple positions. Even in the 2022-2023 season, if she hadn’t been injured, she could have spent more time on her court.
After training ended on the afternoon of the 29th, Park Jin-young said, “I entered the professional league with an injury. But he really wanted to play basketball, so he worked hard on his rehabilitation. He made a comeback like that, but as soon as he came back, he injured his opposite ankle. It was so regretful,” he said, starting with the regret caused by his injury.
But, “But now that I think about it, I was able to look back on my basketball from the beginning because of the injury. I found out what I lacked one by one,” he said, considering the injury as a positive turning point.
Park Jin-young’s team, Hana 1Q, finished the regular season on March 3rd. And since April 17th, I have been training off-season. Park Jin-young is undergoing his first off-season training as a professional player.
Park Jin-young said, “His ankle has not completely recovered. But he has no trouble running. it got so good It will get better in the future,” he said of his physical condition.
After that, he said, “When I was in school, I did off-season training in the winter. And back then he only played sports and basketball. His pro off-season training was different. He worked out the muscles needed for core and basketball, but made his body as a whole. There were also subtle differences in the measurement factors,” he said, referring to the difference between professional training and amateur training.
As mentioned above, Park Jin-young got a chance to play with the W-League All-Star. Although he has a different position, he can face Japan’s top players such as Tokashimiramu (ENEOS), Miyazawa Yuki (FUJITSU) and Akaho Himawari (DENSO).
So Park Jin-young said, “I can see the unnies’ games that are good at it right in front of me. I think that will work as a good learning effect. And she sticks with players who are also good in Japan. It’s a good opportunity to find out what I’m lacking in,” she said, positively considering the confrontation with the W League All-Star player.
Finally, she said, “I came to learn. That’s why I want to help the team while playing. I want to focus on rebounding,” she said, determined. A willingness to learn and a tenacious movement. Those two were Jinyoung Park’s goals for her W-League All-Star Game.
