Choi was scheduled to start at first base for the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 2023 Major League Baseball game against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park in San Diego, California, United States, on 25 June, but he reportedly did not play due to illness. Carlos Santana started at first base instead.
