The Kia Tigers have made some big and small changes to their first-team roster after their second straight losing series last week.
The Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) announced the roster additions and deletions on Monday. A total of 10 players were demoted to the second team, including KIA foreign pitcher Sean Anderson.
KIA was the team with the most players on the list, with pitchers Kim Dae-yu, Anderson, and Jeong Hae-young and infielders Yoon Do-hyun and Hwang Dae-in all receiving second-team designations.
Anderson was 3-5 with a 4.12 ERA in 10 games and 54⅔ innings pitched this season, but he took the losses in his last two starts, throwing less than five innings in each. Eventually, the coaching staff had to make a decision.메이저사이트
Jung Hae-young, who is in charge of KIA’s back end, is 3-1 with a 3.44 ERA in 20 games and 18⅓ innings pitched this season, including two consecutive no-hitters at home against the LG Twins on July 27-28. However, he allowed runs in both games.
Kim Dae-yu, a left-hander who joined the KIA organization as compensation for free agent Park Dong-won before the season, is 13-2 with a 6.92 ERA in 19 games this season. In his most recent start, on Aug. 28 against the Gwangju LG Electronics, he gave up one run on three hits in two innings.
Hwang Dae-in’s name is also prominent in the lineup as the starting first baseman. He is batting .212 with 25 doubles, three home runs and 18 RBIs in 118 at-bats in 36 games this season, but with no signs of rebounding, the team decided to give him some time in the second team.
LG, which is in first place, sent pitcher Kim Dae-hyun down to the second team. In the ninth inning of the 28th game against the KIA in Gwangju, Kim gave up three hits (one home run) and one run without recording a single out before handing the mound over to Kim Jin-sung.
KT Wiz foreign pitcher Bo Schuler is also headed to the second team. After cruising through the month of April, he hasn’t been much help to the team this month, going 5-5 with an 8.39 ERA in 24⅔ innings in five games. The injury to Choi Soo-joon has left the starting rotation thin, but that hasn’t stopped Schuler from struggling.
NC Dinos pitcher Lee Jun-ho, Samsung Lions outfielder Kim Sung-yoon, and Hanwha Eagles outfielder Kwon Kwang-min were also removed from the first team roster.
